People living in Scotland can get up to £400 towards the cost of buying and installing home chargepoints for electric vehicles.
Check if you’re eligible
You can apply for funding (up to £400) for one grant type below if you’re either a:
rural and remote electric vehicle owner – you live in a small town, rural and remote area or Island of Scotland and own or lease an electric vehicle (including through work), or
used electric vehicle owner – you live in Scotland and bought your electric vehicle through the used electric vehicle loan
To be eligible for the funding, your installer must be approved by both Energy Saving Trust and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles. Installers must successfully complete our onboarding process to be added to our list of eligible installers.
All installers on our list are approved by the electric vehicle consumer code for home chargepoints (EVCC). Visit the EVCC website to learn more and find EVCC members.
Payment terms are between you and your installer. However, we don’t recommend paying until the chargepoint has been installed. We will only reimburse you after the installation has been completed and commissioned.
If you have any questions, or are having difficulty contacting an approved installer, please email us at electricvehiclesscotland@est.org.uk.
If you’re interested in becoming an approved installer please visit our installer webpage.
You’ve applied for chargepoint funding – what happens next?
If your application is approved, we will issue you with a grant offer of up to £400 towards the cost.
Once you have this, you can arrange a date to install your chargepoint with your chosen installer. Remember you won’t be eligible for funding if you start the work before you receive your grant offer letter.
Once the work is complete, your installer will provide you with an invoice along with an electrical installation certificate (EIC).
If the cost of the installation goes up after you receive your grant offer letter, please tell us as soon as possible. If you change installers without telling us or without having your new quote approved, we will withdraw your grant offer.
Once you’ve paid for the installation, you’ll receive an invoice from your installer. Please follow the instructions that come with your grant offer letter. You’ll need to complete your claim form and upload your paid invoice along with the EIC to our portal (you will receive a link to this when your application is approved) so that we can process your claim.
